An open protocol and your own server

Family Chat uses the open Matrix protocol. A family or organisation can choose a server provider or host its own server. Features and access conditions depend on the operator’s configuration.

The beta continues to evolve. Encrypted calls do not mean all text messages have end-to-end encryption. Check data processing terms and available features with the operator of your chosen server.
